Orinda Police Investigate Series of Auto Burglaries

Five break-ins reported on March 3 and 4 at Miramonte High and residences.

March 3 and 4 were not secure days to be an automobile in Orinda.

Police are investigating five burglaries of cars on those two days.

Two unlocked cars were broken into in the parking lot of Miramonte High School on Moraga Way between 6:30 a.m. and 8:15 p.m., according to an Orinda police report. Reported stolen were a car stereo, a laptop computer and an Apple IPod, with a total value estimated at $2,500.

Overnight from Thursday, March 3, to Friday, March 4, three parked autos suffered smash-and-grab burglaries. According to Orinda police reports:

  • A window was smashed on a Honda Pilot in the unit block of Hartford Road and a golf bag and clubs valued at $1,500 were stolen.
  • The back passenger window was smashed on a Honda CRV in the 100 block of Meade Lane and a black purse filled with files and other paperwork was stolen.
  • The back passenger window of a Toyota pickup truck was smashed in the unit block of Moraga Via and golf clubs, training aids, a golf GPS device and a Casio camera were stolen with a total value estimated at $4,700.
