Moraga Rock Painters Caught White-Handed

A party of paintbrush-wielding teens was interrupted by police while tiptoeing across Moraga Road recently — apparently after doing a little hometown decoration.

A Moraga police officer happened to be cruising Moraga Road the evening of May 23 when a large group of juveniles crossed the street heading toward the Taco Bell parking lot.

The officer said the kids scattered upon seeing the black and white about 10:36 p.m., and left the area in their cars. A 17-year-old girl was stopped, the officer said, and some telltale white paint was spotted on her hands.

The girl confirmed under questioning what the officer already knew — that the group had been "" on the outcropping overlooking the town on Rheem Boulevard at Moraga Road.

Scott Carr, the weary rancher who owns the property, was advised but it was not immediately known if he planned to take any action since kids have been layering the rocks for decades.
