Three Lamorinda Students to Represent the U.S. on the National Teams

USA Synchro announced its U.S Open squad and three other national synchronized swimming teams following the final stage of trials in Walnut Creek, California. During this event, the very best synchronized swimmers in the USA, including 16 swimmers from the Walnut Creek Aquanuts, competed for spots the national teams that will represent the United States in major international competitions, including the Pan American Games and World Championships.

Eleven Walnut Creek Aquanuts were selected to represent the United States on the National Teams including three Lamorinda Students: Natalie Fletcher (Bentley High School), Daria Torba (Orinda Intermediate), Gillian Brassil (Campolindo High School).

Daria Torba (13 years old) is an 8th grader at Orinda Intermediate School. Daria has been doing synchro for 5 years now, and is a three time National Champion. She loves to do synchro, and says that "the pool is my home away from home".

Natalie Fletcher (14 years old) attends Bentley High School in Lafayette, CA. Natalie is a 4.0 student and a two time National Champion. Natalie also received the Ella Peckham Award in 2011.

Gillian Brassil (16 years old) moved from Andover, MA, to swim for WCA. She maintains at least a 4.0 as a sophomore at Campolindo High School and is a three time National Champion. Gillian represented the United States as a soloist in the Mediterranean (Comen) Cup in Spain in 2012.

Other Aquanuts selected for the National Teams are: Sandra Ortellado (Walnut Creek), Ava Jih-Schiff ( Danville), Morgan Boneberg (Clayton), McKinzie Chelberg (St Paul, MN), Alexa Tchekmarev (Troy, MI), Jamie Kuchan(Mesa, AZ), Dana Drury (Walnut Creek), Karina Boyle (Walnut Creek).
