Miramonte Men's Hoops Coach Dismissed; "I Want To Be Back..."

Miramonte High School men's basketball coach Dave Brown was released from coaching responsibilities at the school Monday.

  Miramonte High School men's basketball coach Dave Brown said Wednesday he was released from coaching responsibilities at the school by Mats principal Adam Clark earlier in the week. "I want to be back but the principal told me Monday that he will not re-hire me," Brown responded when contacted. No reason was given for his dismissal, according to Brown. Brown led the Matadors to a 20-10-0 season this year, 8-4-0 in league play. The team finished their season ranked 124th in the state.

It was a shame for Dave to be dismissed in such a manner. He did a good job and definately had the best interest of his players in mind at all times. The silver lining now is that Drew McDonald has been hired to succeed Dave. He is a very ethical and no BS coach, who has been involved with the Miramonte program for several years.   Mike McAlpin, director of media relations at Saint Mary's College, conducted a little poll of players on the Gael's hoops squad and found it's not "all basketball, all the time" for these student athletes. They may not be reading their favorite works just now (Saint Mary's faces the Boilermakers of Purdue later today) but McAlpin said some of the responses he received from players asked about their favorite reading matter surprised him and may surprise you, too. Rain-Soaked Lamorinda Kids Turn Into Living Statues

Some local soccer players find a creative way to get some exercise in all this rain.

Saint Mary's Faces Purdue In Omaha Friday

The Gaels (27-5) are given a seventh seed in the Midwest Region and will open the tournament on Friday against Purdue (21-12) in Omaha, Neb.
