Moraga School District students consistently score at advanced and proficient levels on the California standardized STAR test, and continue to master their grade level subject area content standards. Parents want this to continue, and have consistently approved measures to secure funding for the schools. The district is quick to cite the involvement of Moraga parents and families, local PTAs, the Moraga Education Foundation, and local businesses that have come out to support its programs and help keep the schools among the best in the state.</p>

Moraga Bright Beginnings Christian Preschool

Bright Beginnings is a Christian pre-school and extended child care program for kids ages two to five, located in aMore quiet section of Moraga's south side. Bright beginnings has three classrooms and a kid-friendly play area behind their building. There is also a drop-in program for children from noon to 4pm. Parents only need to register their child, to use the drop-in program as they need, without the child having to attend the school's morning programs.</p> <p>The school follows the Moraga School District calendar regarding major holidays, and is open September through June and for three weeks in July.</p>

Donald L. Rheem School

For most of the kids who go there, Rheem will always be "the school on the hill." This Moraga elementary school sitsMore at the end of a steep drive, and overlooks much of Rheem Valley. It serves kids from Kindergarten through fifth grade, most of whom go on to nearby Joaquin Moraga, and then Campolindo High School. </p> <p>The school is known for its approachable staff and laid-back Moraga manner. But kids here regularly test at or better than district standards, and the school stresses a core curriculum of language arts, math, and science.</p> <p>Rheem offers "extended day" programs for kids with working parents, along with the usual after school activities, sports, and clubs. The school works hard to identify and cultivate gifted and talented students, testing for leadership and scholastic aptitudes and maintaining a curriculum suited for students exhibiting these traits.</p> <p>Special Ed classes are offered for students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities. ESL classes are also taught.</p>

Los Perales Elementary School

Los Perales, or simply "LP" to those who have gone there, is one of three schools serving students in Moraga. It hasMore a student body comprised of kindergarteners through fifth graders. Built in 1965 and closed due to declining enrollment in 1983, Los Perales thrives today as part of the Moraga School District.</p> <p>Old-timers may remember the school for its past use as the Moraga Playhouse. But in 1997, the school was modified and put back in service, where it now accommodates new students in the area.</p> <p>The school currently serves 334 students and offers a variety of programs to compliment its regular classroom offerings. It offers a computer program for grades one through five, an art program, visual/performing arts program, an English Language Learner (ELL) Program, a Gifted and Talented Education program (GATE), a special education resource program and speech and language services.</p> <p>Bill Walters is the principal at Los Perales Elementary School.</p>

Campolindo High School

Campolindo High School is located in Moraga and is one of five high schools in the Acalanes Union High SchoolMore District. "Campo" is known for its relatively remote and secure learning environment, its Advanced Placement Program and outstanding sports facilities.  The school was ranked 86th in <i>Newsweek</i>'s listing of the country's top schools, released in 2009.</p> <p>The Cougars play in Division III and offer field a variety of teams including volleyball, football, men's basketball, cross country, track and field, soccer, and swimming and diving.</p> <p>The Soda Aquatic Center opened on school grounds in 1999. A joint project between the Acalanes School District and the Orinda-based Soda Charities, the center is open to all district students and community members. The year-round facility has an Olympic-size competition pool, a diving pool and a lap pool. The center includes a community room, dressing rooms and concession stand. Olympic swimmer Matt Biondi grew up in Moraga and swimming, as you might expect, is a popular local sport and pastime.</p> <p>The school's main rival is Miramonte High School in neighboring Orinda. Sporting events between the two schools take on special for both participants and observers alike.</p> <p>Campolindo's gymnasium has also enjoyed a storied career as the scene of debut performances by some of the San Francisco Bay Area's greatest rock bands. The Grateful Dead played there on May 17, 1969. Carlos Santana appeared at the school a few months before traveling east to appear at Woodstock in 1969. The Joy of Cooking, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band also made appearances at Campolindo. In 1984, Eddie Money made an impromptu visit during the Campolindo Homecoming Dance, taking the stage and performing "Shakin."</p>
