The Saklan School

Flag as Inappropriate

Named for the indigenous peoples who once roamed the creeks and canyons of this quiet section of Moraga, The Saklan School is now home to about 110 students who hail from all parts of the East Bay area. Saklan is a non-sectarian, nonprofit co-educational day school open to students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. It is the only school of its type in Lamorinda - Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda; and one of only two such campuses in the entire East Bay.

Saklan is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). They are members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the East Bay Independent School Association (EBISA).

The school is as proud of its faculty, specifically selected for their teaching experience, as they are of its students, who continue to outperform peers with test scores meeting or beating national averages for independent schools. Last year, seventy percent of their student body scored at the 95th percentile or higher in one or more sections of the standardized national test of the Educational Records Bureau.

Saklan students praise the school for its small class sizes, which are capped at 16 (K-8), and currently average about 13 students per class. Their program also features Spanish as their foreign language offering, physical education, visual and performing arts, a state of the art science lab, and technology curricula.
