The Weekender: Battle of the Bands, Classic Concert, Architects Cafe

Some of the events scheduled for this weekend in Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda

As you plan your weekend, here are some of the events and activities happening in the Lamorinda area.

On Thursday evening, 
the Orinda Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly mixer.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Land Home Financial Services, 2 Theatre Square, #146.

Also on Thursday evening, the 11th Annual Richard C. Hall Choral Classic Festivals and Concerts will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Drive.

Also on Thursday evening, author Linda Lee Peterson will discuss her second mystery novel, "The Devil's Interval."

The book signing begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.

On Friday morning, a workshop on iPhone technology will be held.

The 90-minute classes are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at 28 Alta Vista Drive in Orinda.

Cost is $35 for one session and $60 for two. The workshops are a fundraiser for the American Association of University Women.

On Friday afternoon, Danville teen author Paris Morris will have a free book reading of her eighth novel, "My Twins' First Halloween."

The event begins at 4 p.m. at Patelco Credit Union, 3498 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette.

Also on Friday afternoon, jazz piano concert will be held in Lafayette.

The Autumn Leaves concert begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.

Also on Friday afternoon at the Lafayette Library, a Battle of the Bands will be held in the Community Hall.

The musical event begins at 5 p.m. Four teen bands will compete for prizes.

On Saturday morning, an architects cafe will be held at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.

Architects will be on hand for personalized appointments to discuss design and renovation plans for homes.

The appointments begin at 8 a.m.

On Sunday morning, the Princeton Review will hold a trial test for the SAT and ACT exams.

The event begins at 8:45 a.m. at the Moraga Country Club, 1600 School St.

Students will be given samples of SAT and ACT questions so they can determine which test is better for them to take.
