The Weekender: Atomic Love Story, Gold Coast Concert, All-Star Comedy Night

Some of the events happening in Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda this weekend

As you plan for the weekend, here are some of the things happening in Lamorinda from Thursday to Sunday.

On Thursday afternoon, the Moraga Book Club will hold its monthly meeting.

The gathering begins at 1 p.m. at the Moraga Library, 1500 St. Mary's Road.

The club will discuss the book, "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn.

On Thursday evening, the Lafayette School District board of education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Stanley Middle School Library, 3455 School St.

On the agenda is a discussion on the wording of a parcel tax measure that will go before voters in May.

Also on Thursday evening, PBS correspondent will be honored at a local school.

The annual Bentley School Freedom Award ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at Bentley School, 1000 Upper Happy Valley Road in Lafayette.

The school will be honoring John Merrow for his work advocating education in the United States.

Also on Thursday evening, two authors will discuss their new book in Lafayette.

Authors Shirley Streshinsky and Patricia Klaus will talk about "An Atomic Love Story: The Extraordinary Women in Robert Oppenheimer's Life."

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

On Saturday evening, concert will be put on by the Gold Coast Chambers Players.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center Community Hall, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

The concert will feature a quartet with oboe and strings as well as a trio and a quintet with horns, piano and strings.

Also on Saturday evening, high-profile comedy night will be held.

The Bunjo's Comedy All Star Show begins at 8 p.m. at The New Rheem Theatre, 350 Park St. in Moraga.
