The Week Ahead: Moraga Subdivision, Pruning Basics, Chorus Auditions

Here are some of the meetings and events happening in Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda this week

On Monday evening, the Moraga Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Moraga Library Community Room, 1500 St. Mary's Road.

On the agenda is a public hearing on plans to build 26 single-family homes in the Camino Ricardo area.

On Tuesday morning, a college alumni art show will be presented.

The "Juried Art and Art History Alumni Exhibition" opens at 11 a.m. in the Brother Cornelius Art Building Gallery at St. Mary's College in Moraga.

The exhibit will showcase media in all shapes and sizes, including video and sculpture.

On Tuesday evening, a class on pruning will be held.

The course begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

The class will cover the basics of pruning for trees, shrubs and roses.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Moraga Movers will hold a special edition of their monthly book club meeting.

The "Book Talking" get-together will begin at 2 p.m. at the Moraga Library, 1500 St. Mary's Road.

There will be a discussion of new books and book club favorites.

Also on Wednesday afternoon, an audition for young singers will be held.

The auditions for the Contra Costa Children's Chorus begin at 4 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1035 Carol Lane in Lafayette.

On Wednesday evening, the Moraga Town Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School, 1010 Camino Pablo.

On the agenda is a review of the city's audited financial report for the fiscal year that ended on June 30.

On Thursday morning, the Lafayette Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting.

The gathering begins at 9:45 a.m. at 584 Glenside Drive in Lafayette.

The topic will be Garden Myths.

On Thursday evening, the Mt. Diablo Business Women will hold their monthly meeting.

The meeting begins at 5:45 p.m. at the Lafayette Park Hotel, 3287 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

There is a three-course dinner, speakers and networking. The sign-up deadline is Monday.

On Friday afternoon, an international film will be showcased.

The first showing of "Instructions Not Included" from Mexico begins at 1 p.m. at the Orinda Theatre, 4 Orinda Theatre Square.

Other showings are at 3:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on Friday and Saturday as well as 1 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday.
