Lafayette Council to Consider Terraces Project,

The Terraces project has sparked concerns from residents who say 315 townhouses is too many for the property.

Environmental studies for a controversial proposal to build 315 townhouses on property near the intersection of Deer Hill Rd. and Pleasant Hill Rd. will again be considered tonight (Monday) by the Lafayette City Council.

A hearing in June was continued after council members requested more information. The developer's attorney has continuously insisted that the city is violating property rights by imposing unfair requirements, and changing the rules in the middle of the process.

Meanwhile, the project is under fire from many residents who feel that the so-called Terraces project will bring too much traffic to the area, destroy the scenic landscape and put too much pressure on schools and city services.

The council meets tonight at 5 p.m. in the Community Room of the Lafayette Library and Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd.
