When does the holiday spirit hit you?  Well for Connor Henderson it started months ago as he began collecting donated used bikes for Adopt a Family Bikes (www.adoptafamilybikes.org).  Connor, a 14 year old resident of Moraga and student at De La Salle, heard about Adopt a Family Bikes and wanted to help get refurbished bikes to the poor and homeless.  On December 2nd Connor not only delivered 10 bikes to the shop but he, his parents Brenda and Brian, along with four of his siblings stayed to help clean and repair bikes.  Connor will be back to the shop soon delivering more donated bikes he already picked up.

“It is so wonderful to see a young man thinking of others and actually putting his thoughts into action especially during such a busy time.  The managers of Adopt a Family Bikes (AAFB) were all so impressed with Connor’s actions said Tania Hanson-De Young from AAFB.

If you would like contact Connor about picking up your donated bike for next years program, he can be reached at AdoptAFamilyBikes.Lamorinda@gmails.com.  We already have 350 bikes donated this year and are working feverishly to get them ready for the holidays.

If you are getting that holiday spirit and want to follow Connor’s fine example, volunteers are welcome Friday the 14th from 7-9pm, Sat.& Sun. the 15th & 16th 10-6, Wed. the 19th 7-9pm, Sat. & Sun. the 22 & 23rd from 10-4pm at the Adopt a Family Bike shop located at 180-C Alamo Plaza, Alamo (the old Blockbuster location) For more information go to www.adoptafamilybikes.org or email adoptafamilybikes@gmail.com.
