Summer Ice Cream: Where Do You Buy It In Lamorinda?

Memorial Day is past. The temperatures are warming into the 80s and low 90s. Summer time is almost here.

One of the luxuries of summer is ice cream, whether it's on a cone, in a cup or from a half-gallon container.

Ice cream is a little more expensive than it was a few months ago. Prices rose 0.3 percent in April, but they're 0.6 percent less than a year ago.

The average price for a half-gallon is about $5.10 nationwide.

Some companies are trying to lure with flavors and discounts.

Burger King is offering ice cream cones for 50 cents between now and Aug. 5.

Perry's Ice Cream keeps introducing new flavors. In April, they unveiled sponge candy, a caramel sugar flavored ice cream cone. Before that, they had a popcorn-flavored cone for the movies.

Here's a few of the places in Lamorinda to get ice cream. Tell us what's your favorite ice cream shop in town. Also, are there any flavors you'd like to see introduced?

Loard's Ice Cream on Brookwood Road in Orinda.

Cold Stone Creamery on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette.

Powell's Sweet Shoppe on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette.
