Water Polo Playoffs: Acalanes High Girls Romp In First Round Victory

Campolindo and Miramonte High teams prepare for their first matches in the tournament

Acalanes High's girls water polo team advanced to the second round in the North Coast Section Division II playoffs by swamping Encinal High, 15-2, on Wednesday.

The fourth-seeded Dons, who are now 14-11 on the season, will face fifth-seeded Marin Catholic High at the Acalanes High pool on Saturday.

Campolindo High is ranked number one in the girls Division II tournament. The Cougars had a first round bye and will play their initial game on Saturday against eighth-seeded Carondelet High.

Miramonte High is ranked number two and also had a first round bye. The Matadors' first game will likewise be on Saturday against Piedmont High.

In the boys Division I tournament, top ranked Miramonte High plays at 8 p.m. Thursday in their home pool against 16th ranked Livermore High.

The Matadors are 16-8 this season while Livermore is 12-12.

Second-seeded Campolindo High plays at home Thursday evening against 15th ranked Mission San Jose.

The Cougars are 18-6 this season while Mission San Jose is 15-8.
