Scary Moment For Miramonte at X-Country Meet; Runner Recovers

Runner Sierra Ryder is doing fine and has fully recovered after a scary moment at Saturday's cross country meet in Concord.

Miramonte cross country ran their second meet on Saturday, Sept. 15. The meet was held at Newhall Park in Concord and hosted by De La Salle High School. Miramonte competed against 40 other teams at this invitational.

Varsity runners ran a three mile course. The boys came in second overall. Tyler Hanson ’13 placed fifth with a time of 15:39 in the varsity boys division.

Sierra Ryder ’14 finished her race, but collapsed at the finish line from dehydration. She was taken to the medic tent, and rushed by ambulance to a hospital soon after.

“Our team is very thankful that Sierra has recovered because she plays a key role in our girls varsity division,” said Lindsey Buckle ‘14.

The team will run the same course in their first league meet this Wednesday, Sept. 19.
