NBA Star Patrick Mills To Appear At St. Mary's B-Ball All-Star Classic

Recent NBA champion Patrick Mills is among the nearly 100 former Saint Mary’s men’s basketball players returning to campus on June 29 for the Gaels Basketball All-Star Classic & Alumni Weekend at McKeon Pavilion.

The All-Star Classic is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff and will feature participation by former Gaels such as Mills, Matthew Dellavedova, Daniel Kickert, Omar Samhan, Diamon Simpson, Mickey McConnell, Paul Marigney and more.

Tickets are on sale through SMCGaels.com and at the door for just $5 and all kids in 6th grade and under will be admitted free of charge.

“We’ve had incredible players in our program over the last several years," said Bennett.  “But, since most of them are currently playing professionally throughout the world, it has been difficult to get them all back on campus at once.  It just so happened that a window of opportunity opened this year and we are taking advantage of it.  This is a great way to continue to share our program’s success with our supportive Lamorinda community.”

NBA players Mills and Dellavedova headline this special event, which is the brainchild of SMC men’s basketball coach Randy Bennett.

Under his guidance, the Gaels are the winningest NCAA Division I program in the state of California and have appeared in the postseason eight times.  Prior to Bennett’s arrival in Moraga in 2001, the SMC program had experienced postseason competition on just three occasions.

With players from each of the last seven decades in attendance, the Gaels’ alumni weekend is the largest men’s basketball gathering in recent memory.  Every player in attendance will take part in a post game autograph session after the All-Star game.
