Moraga Bocce Ballers Cry Fore!; Disc Golfers Stay Mellow - So Far

Bocce is big in Moraga. And it's growing. Some dedicated enthusiasts have their eye on some underused space at Moraga Commons.

There are a million things to do in Lamorinda. Rolling steel or wooden balls or flinging a flying disc into chain net are just a few of the activities available here, and each are practiced with equal passion.

In recent weeks the cadre of folks who call Moraga's bocce ball courts their home away from home have proposed adding two additional courts to existing lanes at Moraga Commons Park, a move the town said would "replace the existing underutilized horseshoe pits located just north of the existing bocce ball courts."

All well and good except the disc golf course (tee‐box number five) would be
relocated approximately 12 feet to the northwest with the distance for the "hole" staying the same.

Plans are still being drawn up so everyone stays happy and the balls and discs continue to roll and fly uninterrupted, with the proposal set to be delivered to the Town within the next three weeks.

Meanwhile, Lamorinda Patch continues to receive periodic complaints about unleashed dogs, mysterious odors, and the Bohemian lifestyle of some of the disc golfers, who don't exactly play by PGA rules. The Bocce Folk, apparently, have yet to run afoul of any of the locals, confining themselves to moderate consumption of really good Merlot.
