Local Rowing Club Takes 8 Gold Medals at SW Jr. Regionals!

The Oakland Strokes Rowing Club, made of up numerous Lamorinda athletes, left the recent May 2014 US Rowing SW Regionals Jr. Championships at the Lake Natoma Aquatic Center in Folsom, topping the podium 8 times. 

Thirty-six crew clubs and 600 athletes competed from across the Western US. 

With two marquis races, the Women’s Varsity 8+boat  came in 1st place and took home the Gold for the second year in a row, and the Men’s Varsity 8+ boat also came in 1st, winning Gold and beating their rival Marin Rowing by .04 seconds.

Overall Oakland Strokes came home with 8 Gold, 9 Silver and 7 Bronze.  

Six of the top Oakland Strokes boats will now move on and begin preparing for Nationals coming up in June at Lake Natoma.
