High School Water Polo Playoffs Beginning

Miramonte and Campolindo have highly ranked teams in both the boys and girls divisions

The North Coast Section high school water polo playoffs are getting under way this week.

The girls' Division II competition starts up on Wednesday.

Fourth-seeded Acalanes High plays at 8 p.m. in their home pool against Encinal High.

The Dons are 13-11 on the season while Encinal is 18-7.

Campolindo High is ranked number one in the tournament. The Cougars have a first round bye and will play their initial game on Saturday.

Miramonte High is ranked number two and also has a first round bye. The Matadors' first game will likewise be on Saturday.

In the boys Division I tournament, top ranked Miramonte High plays at 8 p.m. Thursday in their home pool against 16th ranked Livermore High.

The Matadors are 16-8 this season while Livermore is 12-12.

Second-seeded Campolindo High plays at home Thursday evening against 15th ranked Mission San Jose.

The Cougars are 18-6 this season while Mission San Jose is 15-8.
