Girls Waterpolo: Campolindo Tops Marin Academy in NCS First Round

The Star: Senior Driver Emily McFee led Campolindo with six goals.

The Turning Point: Holding a 10-2 lead at halftime, McFee fired in three quick goals early in the third period to put the game out of reach.

 used an attacking offense to build a 10-2 halftime lead on its way to a dominating victory over Marin Academy in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs.

The Cougars are looking for a return appearance in the championship game, which they reached in 2009.

Campolindo jumped out quickly against Marin Academy behind three first half goals by sophomore Kim Flower, and two by freshman Natalie Seidermann. Seidermann finished with four goals.

Junior goalie Gracie Fowler, a three-year starter for Campolindo, was solid in the net, saving six first-half shots before being replaced in the second half.

After halftime, standout Emily McFee took over.

The senior driver racked up three quick goals early in the third period, building a commanding 13-2 lead.

McFee finished with six goals.

The Campolindo team and fans let out a large cheer in the final minutes of the victory, when senior Rena Sumiyoshi scored her first goal of the season.
