———————————

girls water polo coach Kim Everist knows that one loss and the season is over for her Cougars. So needless to say, she reminds the girls of that on a daily basis.

"Our philosophy is always that we are two goals down," Everist said. "It reminds them to play with a sense of urgency, and we set that tone at the beginning of the game."

Message received.

The Cougars jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, a lead they would never relinquish, en route to a 12-3 victory over Drake in the quarterfinals of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs at the Soda Aquatic Center.

Kimi Klein found the cage four times, leading the Cougars.

"The team was making good passes all game long," Klein said. "Tonight it was all about the team."

Seven different Cougars lit up the scoreboard including two apiece from Andie Nishimi and Sam Flower.

"We are a team that has to work to find its center," Everist said of the philosophy of her team. "We've had our ups and downs. We've showed signs of brilliance and other times that make me say 'what are we doing?', but its been a great season thus far."

Campo advances to the NCS semifinals on Thursday where it will play the winner of Marin Catholic-Carondelet.

"This team is pulling together here at the end of the season," Everist said. "It's a good time to be playing well.

The goal from day one has been about the title for Campo, and that message is not lost down the stretch.

"From the start of the year, its been all about the NCS finals," Klein said. "We are very team oriented."
