Girls Basketball: Miramonte, Campo Win, Acalanes Loses in NorCal First Round

The Mats and Cougars will both be in action on Thursday.

Miramonte 63, Enterprise Redding 26

After falling behind 8-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Miramonte High girls basketball team quickly found its rythmn. The Mats went into halftime with a 28-11 lead and cruised to a first-round win in the CIF Division III NorCal playoffs.

Alyssa Johnason led the team with 14 points, while Liza Katz and Devon McDonald both added 10 points.

Miramonte (23-6) will travel to second-seeded Sacramento on Thursday for a 6 p.m., game. 

Vanden-Fairfield 56, Acalanes 49

It was an excellent season for the Acalanes High girls basketball team, but the Dons season came to an end Tuesday in a 56-49 loss to Vanden in the first round of the CIF Division III NorCal playoffs. Emani Harrison scored 15 points and Samantha Cheng added 12.

Campolindo 79, Christian Brothers-Sacramento 64

The Cougars bounced back from their heart-breaking loss to Bishop O'Dowd in the North Coast Section Divison III finals with a solid victory at home. 

Annie Ward led the team with 24 points, while Annelise Ito went for 20. Amanda Forshay (11 points) and Laura Hicky (9 points) also had good games.

Campo will now prepare foro perenial state and national power Sacred Heart Cathedral-San Francisco. Sacred Heart (16-12) hosts the Cougars at 6 p.m., on Thursday.
