Campolindo High Girls Win State Cross Country Championship

Campolindo's Aidan Goltra repeats as the state champion in the boys Division III race

Campolindo High's girls cross country team captured the state championship on Saturday while the Cougars' top male runner captured the individual title in his race.

The Campolindo girls won the California Interscholastic Federation Division III crown with a low score of 83. The second place team, Northwood High, was well behind with a combined score of 127 for their top five runners.

Campolindo junior Brighie Leach led her team by finishing second with a time of 17:51 over the 5-kilometer course in Fresno.

Her teammate Mary Orders finished 14th. The scoring was rounded out with Rachel Johnson in 15th, Sarah Cella in 25th and Haley Shipway in 27th.

In the boys' Division III race, Campolindo senior Aidan Goltra captured his second straight state title with a time of 15:02 over the 5K course.

Goltra won by one second over David Luna of Indio High and Austin Tamagno of Brea Olinda High.

Last year, Goltra also won his state championship race by one second.

The Campolindo boys finished fourth as a team. They had a score of 156.

Behind Goltra was Ben Weinberg in 25th, Parker Lothamer in 34th, Will Moran in 36th and Nathaniel Sauerberg in 60th.

The Campolindo boys and girls teams both won their North Coast Section Division III races last weekend.

The Miramonte High boys team finished 15th with a score of 385. The Matadors top finisher was Charles Zamanian in 33rd place.
