Entries for Youth Ink 2014 will be accepted until Feb. 18

Middle school students in Orinda still have six weeks to come up with their best piece of writing for a chance to win $250.

The Youth Ink 2014 competition is accepting submissions until Feb. 18. It's sponsored by the Orinda Junior Women's Club.

The contest is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th students who live in Orinda or attend an Orinda school.

Students may submit a story (fiction or non-fiction), poem or other form of creative writing that was created without the assistance of a parent or teacher.

First prize is $250. Second place receives $125 and third place gets $75. There are also 10 honorable mention certificates.

The winners will be announced on April 24.
