The Campolindo Garden Needs Harvesting Help Sunday

Whole Foods and Global Student Embassy are sponsoring a day of service at the Campolindo organic garden.

Those who can't afford enough food for themselves or their families also need healthy, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. And if you or someone you know has a couple of hours to spare on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., some who rarely get enough can enjoy a bit of the best Bay Area bounty. Lunch will be served from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Whole Foods is teaming up with Global Student Embassy to spend Sunday harvesting the organic garden at Campolindo High in Moraga and donate the results to the Contra Costa Food Bank. They are seeking volunteers of all ages to help with the project.

Among other things, volunteers are needed for:

* Weeding
* Turning soil
* Pruning
* Watering
* Building new beds

* Planting fruit trees
* Turning compost pile
