Midnight Falls On Cinderella Season; Campolindo Finishes 14-1 With Loss To Washington-Union

"The Catfight in Carson" between the Campolindo Cougars and Washington-Union (Fresno) Panthers ends in victory for WU.

There were some familiar names out on the field from past years and on-field heroics -- Thornton, Fadelli, Toohey -- and former players, fans and classmates turned out for an historic State Bowl bid that, sadly, didn't go Campolindo's way in Carson Saturday.

Coach Kevin Macy talked Friday of finding that "last bit of adrenalin" his team has counted on when they needed it most during a remarkable season that saw them go undefeated and earn a CIF banner in a remarkable game last week.

In a fun game to watch the Cougars fought consistently to catch a Washington-Union squad that had also gone unbeaten during their season, and that ultimately proved too hard to beat as time ran out at 21-16, Washington-Union.

If you have video, pictures of the team and game you want to share, feel free to share them here. Great job, Campo.

I uploaded two "fan view" shots from my sister, Lee Ann Caldwell ('85), who went down with her husband Bill Caldwell ('85). Bummer to come so close on the field, but still a season to remember.
