It will be a choice between a provisional appointment or a special election to fill a vacancy on the Moraga School District Governing Board.
A day after the Nov. 6 election in which he was re-elected, Dexter Louie announced his resignation immediately without giving a reason.
At Tuesday night's governing board meeting, Superintendent Bruce Burns said state education code gave the board a choice between the provisional appointment or a special election. The board had no discussion of the merits of those options Tuesday, leaving that for a future meeting.
Three members of the public told the board Tuesday it would be a good idea to appoint Parker Colvin, the third-place vote-getter on Nov. 6, when three people ran for two seats on the Moraga School District Governing Board. Shari Simon tallied the most votes with 4,032; Dexter Louie was re-elected with 3,340; and Parker Colvin had 2,601 votes.
