Moraga School Board Appoints Parker Colvin

New governing board member was unsuccessful candidate in November election; takes the open seat vacated by Dexter Louie.

The Moraga School District on Thursday night appointed Parker Colvin to the governing board.

Colvin was an unsuccessful candidate for the board in Nov. 6 elections. Shortly after the election, the newly re-elected Dexter Louie announced he was stepping down without giving a reason.

Colvin, the head of trading and underwriting for a private investment bank, with his wife Jen has three children. He has co-chaired the Dads Club at Los Perales Elementary School and been a Tee-ball coach, according to the biography on his campaign website. Colvin, 33, graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois with a B.S. in mathematics, according to his Patch election profile.

Per state education code, the district will post the information about the appointment for 30 days. The other applicant for the appointment was Dr. Irwin Tallerico, a former district administrator during the 1980s, said Superintendent Bruce Burns.
