Joaquin Moraga Intermediate Mourns the Loss of a Teacher; Tribute Planned

Carol Robak taught at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate for 34 years, passing recently after battling breast cancer. Now, her students and colleagues are looking for a little help in honoring her with a tribute befitting a teacher.

Patch heard from JM teacher Karlene Steelman Tuesday. Karlene and the JM family are looking for a little help in honoring a colleague who lost her battle with breast cancer recently.

"One of our former teachers, Carol Robak, passed away a few weeks ago," Steelman said. "We're hoping to paint a mural in her honor on the side of the gym. The design for the mural will be a contest and our art teacher will be painting it."

Steelman said the school is estimating the cost of the mural at about $2,500 and they are looking for a little help in defraying the cost.

"We were wondering if it might be possible to let people know about the contest and where to send donations if they are interested on Lamorinda Patch?" Steelman asked.

The short answer, Karlene, is that we'd be proud to do that. Look for additional information on the schools effort to honor their teacher in this space later in the day.
