Lamorinda's High School Homecomings: Full of Spirit and Community

Homecoming traditions remain strong at Acalanes, Campolindo, and Miramonte with pep rallies, football games, and school dances.

Homecoming season is upon us once again and the Lamorinda high schools in the Acalanes School District are winding up another spirit-filled week. The schools' themes were Old School Nickelodeon Cartoons for Acalanes, Cartoons for Campolindo, and Time Warped for Miramonte; this was reflected in the pep rallies and themes for the Homecoming dances.

At Acalanes High, lunchtime activities included inter-grade capture the flag and student versus teacher dodge ball. The seniors were victorious in capture the flag bracket and the students beat the teachers in two out of three games.

In past years, Acalanes had seen some inter-grade competition that was less than friendly but this year seemed to have gotten over the nastiness and focused more on the positive, according to Acalanes Principal Aide Glimme.

“There's been way more participation than we've seen in the past... a lot more spirit,” said Cam Farrier, Acalanes Senior and ASB Communications Commissioner.

All three high schools in Lamorinda have spent the week preparing for the end-of-week festivities which traditionally include the homecoming football game and the homecoming dance.
