Five Run for Three Seats on Lafayette School District Board

Three challengers and two incumbents will be on the ballot Nov. 2.

Lafayette School District will have at least one new board member, as incumbents Teresa Gerringer and Art Kapoor seek new terms. They'll be up against newcomers David Gerson, Berch Parker and Saveth Soun, as the filing period for the race ended Wednesday. Incumbent Ann Appert has said she will not run this year.

Gerringer, on the board since 2000, has participated on all of the board committees and served as board president for two terms. She has an extensive background as a community volunteer, educational consultant, and PTA member.  She has been a Lafayette resident since 1995.

Kapoor was appointed to the board in lieu of election in 2008. He has worked on bond measure and parcel tax campaigns in both the Acalanes and Lafayette districts. A graduate of UC Berkeley, with a graduate business degree from the University of Michigan, he has lived in Lafayette since 1991.
