Protecting Open Space and Providing for Future Generations

Alison Hill of Sustainable Lafayette and Matt Vander Sluis of Greenbelt Alliance will come together for this special event to discuss open space - the current local and regional perspective and what's possible for the future.

Alison Hill, of Sustainable Lafayette, brings 25 years of experience working in Lafayette to preserve the open space so that residents can enjoy the hills for hiking, running and other sports. There is pressure, even in Lafayette, to build out rather than in. Meanwhile, Lafayette is working hard to create a town center which is walkable, attractive, and open for growth.

Matt Vander Sluis, Field Representative for Greenbelt Alliance, brings over 6 years of environmental work experience. He is responsible for coordinating citizen efforts to protect open space and create livable communities in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Matt works with citizens, elected officials, and diverse groups to protect the greenbelt of open space, ranches, and farms and to improve the livability of existing communities through grassroots organizing, coalition building, policy analysis, political strategizing and local advocacy. He has a B.A. from Stanford University.

This program is open to all and free of charge.
