Paws to Read program

With Paws to Read, kids in grades 1-5 can practice their reading with a friendly dog.  All the dogs are certified therapy dogs and tested for sociability.

All levels are welcome, and reluctant readers can gain confidence from an excellent and non-judgmental listener.  Paws is scheduled on Wednesdays until April 13, from 3:30 to 4:30, and on Saturdays March 12, 26 and April 9 from 2:30 to 3:30.   Space is limited.

Starting in the fall of 2006, Orinda was the first library in Contra Costa County to have an ongoing reading to pets program, and have 14 person-and-dog-team volunteers
