LAMORINDA DEMOCRATIC CLUB TO DISCUSS WAR AGAINST WOMEN AND PLANNED PARENTHOOD
The June 9th meeting of the Lamorinda Democratic Club will feature a conversation about the War Against Women and How Planned Parenthood Is Just Getting Started! Featured speakers include Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Board Chair Melody Weintraub and Planned Parenthood Shasta Pacific Chief Executive Officer Mitzi Sales.
Republicans in Washington and around the country have declared war against Planned Parenthood and women's reproductive freedom. In attacking Planned Parenthood, the House Republican leadership has launched an outrageous assault on the millions of American women and men nationwide who rely on Planned Parenthood for health care services.
Planned Parenthood's mission is to create a personally and politically safe climate in which individuals have universal and unfettered access to sexual and reproductive health service and are free to follow their own beliefs, values and moral code when making decisions about these services.

The Republicans' defunding effort would cut off services for preventive health care, including lifesaving breast and cervical cancer screenings, annual exams, birth control, HIV testing, and STD testing and treatment. None of this federal funding goes toward abortion services, which is already prohibited.
