LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK: A program like this takes cooperation and everyone putting their best ideas forward, working together to achieve a worthwhile goal. Activities in the training include learning about leadership and doing teambuilding exercises.

FACILITATING: You will be trained to facilitate small group discussions, which includes listening, questioning and group management skills. Each training will also increase your understanding of issues affecting girls so that you can be effective in guiding younger girls to make healthy choices.

PLANNING: Your ideas, energy and creativity will be called upon to customize the mentoring program and summit to address the special needs and interests of today’s girls. You will work in collaboration with your peers and adult leaders to make important decisions about how the program is delivered.

What exactly is a facilitator?

To facilitate means to make easy. You will be trained over six months, by professional counselors and trainers, to facilitate small group discussions about girls' experiences. Girls learn through sharing their stories and listening to others' stories at mentoring sessions. You will learn to facilitate these small group sessions.

What are the benefits to facilitators?

Meet and become friends with girls from all the Acalanes High Schools. Learn valuable communication and leadership skills you can use for the rest of your life. Gain an understanding of the complex issues that girls are dealing with in their lives--related to body image, peer pressure, stress and relationships. Become aware of yourself as someone who has a lot to offer the world just by being yourself. And have lots of fun!

Visit www.sister2sister.info for even more information and to complete your application. Don't wait. Applications must be received next week, by September 20th. Join us!
