Campo Cougars Leave for State Bowl Game Friday; Local Business Warms Up Their Big Screens for Saturday

Not everyone is heading south to watch the Campolindo Cougars play in the Division III State Bowl Game. It just seems like they are.

Big send-off planned for the Campolindo football team at their high school Friday as coach Kevin Macy and his staff take the boys south for a catfight with the Panthers of Washington-Union High School (Fresno).

The Cinderella Team, predicted by some not to win a single game (they went 14-0, so there you go) departs from their Moraga campus at 12:30 p.m. Friday so if you hear their signature "I believe" chant around that time you'll know what's going on.

The Cougars were selected to play in the Division III State Bowl Game after a dramatic, last-minute field goal and NCS Title Win by sophomore kicker Christian Antenzana -- the squad's second leading point maker this year -- last week at the Oakland Col... Oversto... uh, the place where the Raiders play.

The team has played with a lot of heart so look for a lot of love as their families and fans show up to see them off today.

And if you're not making the trip south you can watch the game LIVE at any one of the several Cougar-friendly establishments offering up their big screen TVs for Saturday's game, which kicks off at noon at Comcast SportsNet.

Mountain Mikes Pizza and the Rheem Theatre will have the game up on their big screens. Other local businesses will probably follow suit so watch for "events" listings popping up and, remember, "We Believe!"
