Acalanes School Board Appoints New Member

Nancy Jo Kendzierski will replace Gwen Reinke, who resigned in early August

The Acalanes Union High School District has a new member on its governing board.

The board unanimously voted Wednesday night to appoint Nancy Jo Kendzierski to the seat vacated on Aug. 1 when trustee Gwen Reinke resigned.

Kendzierski's term will run through November 2014, when the next district election is held.

Kendzierski and her family have lived in Lamorinda for 18 years. She is an active volunteers in schools throughout the region.

Reinke submitted her resignation after her family moved out of the district. She had served on the board for five years.

Acalanes trustees decided against a special election because it would cost $150,000 to $200,000, according to a story on the website News 24/680.
