Zeller, Orr, Go Up Against Roster of Incumbents for Orinda Council Race

Scott Zeller filed papers Wednesday to make his bid for one of three seats on the Orinda City Council official. He's the latest to file in a five candidate race - so far.

As expected, Orinda physician Scott Zeller filed papers announcing his intent to run for one of three available seats on the Orinda City Council on Wednesday. That brings the number of candidates gunning for positions on the council so far to five, with prospective candidates having until Friday to file nomination papers.

So far, no other "stealth candidates" have emerged as last-minute contenders.

Zeller said Wednesday he's preparing his campaign and solidifying his positions on topics of interest to the city. He, Orinda Planning Commission Chairman Dean Orr, and incumbents Tom McCormick, Amy Worth, and Sue Severson will be talking more in depth about their positions and plans for their council run beginning this weekend.

Plans to develop Orinda's downtown, deteriorating roads, revenue enhancement and, recently, talk of a citywide ban on leaf blowers, are all topics that have come before the council for discussion or review in recent months. The City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday every month to conduct business in open public sessions. Council meetings are held in the Orinda Library Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.  In addition, the Council periodically schedules Special Meetings to address specific issues; such meetings are noticed for public information.
