Vallejo Lures Moraga's Town Engineer Away; Mercurio's Successor Sought

Moraga's Town Engineer -- Jill Mercurio -- is leaving for a new job in Vallejo.

Town Engineer Jill Mercurio is known for her enthusiasm and optimistic approach to her job. Mercurio leaves Moraga in late January for a new job as the Assistant Public Works Director in Vallejo.

"We are all happy for her new future ahead, but will miss her undying laughter, bright ideas, management style, and hard work," Town Manager Jill Keimach wrote in her About Town address.

Mercurio went to work for Moraga more than six years ago and immersed herself in a number of significant projects in town, simultaneously embroiling herself in the minor controversies that also tend to consume a small community. By way of disclosure, the editor met and worked briefly with Mercurio while serving as a volunteer with the town's Traffic Safety Advisory Committee. Her ready smile and sense of optimism was a bright spot during a tough time as the town worked to find an effective traffic calming approach.
