"The Wight House" - Lafayette Ridgelines Survive Another Push - For Now

If you're like us you scan Lamorinda's ridgetops from time to time. Lately, it seems like more and more things are popping up on these treasured and highly visible spaces.

Longtime Lafayette residents hoping to build their new home on a 15-acre ridgeline site at the end of Monticello Road in Lafayette have had their efforts blunted, so far, by the .

But the Wight family and their architect maintain their plans for a three-story, 10,388 square foot house on a vacant 15-acre ridgeline lot at the end of Monticello Road have been done with taste and concern for their ridgeline environment.

So far, the Wight's efforts have been blunted by the Planning Commission, with a recent ruling sending them back to the drawing board last week. But as we've seen in these cases the decision doesn't mean the fight is over.

"The PC was tasked to determine if the plan conformed with previous approvals for the parcel," City Manager Steven Falk wrote in his Friday Summary. "By unanimous vote, the Commission determined that the plans did not conform, and directed the property owners to submit a new application."
