Seen -- And Being Seen -- Around Lamorinda

But a Patcher wonders: Who's doing the watching?

This note just came in from Phonezillah -- easily one of the coolest screen names in use at Lamorinda Patch.

"Zillah" wonders about the (apparently, judging from the shiny new fastening straps) new traffic camera in Orinda.

"First noticed the camera perched yesterday," Zillah writes. "Aimed at the Theatre Square side of Brookwood Road. Hopefully it will nail all the arrogant drivers who run the red light for the left turn from southbound Camino Pablo into eastbound Brookwood Road. The camera has some weathering on its top cover so it may have been moved from someplace else...."

Hmm.

Zillah also wonders who is watching the camera?  And we have to admit... much as we hate to... we don't know. Yet.

Don't forget all the people who turn right on the red light off the freeway. There are FIVE "no turn on red" signs, but I see people doing it all the time. AND, the people who enter the intersection from southbound Camino Pablo when the left turn arrow turns green, but they still have the red.

I posit the purpose of this camera is to record and measure the (lack of) pedestrian density in this purported "transit town center" in order to lay the basis for redeveloping existing underutilized properties to create higher density infill developments as Orinda's population ages and as growing families move into the area seeking alternatives to large lot single family homes.
And to drive us out of our homes.

Undaunted, undeterred, and unintelligible at times, I have constructed a tin foil hat to cover my entire fossil fuel transport. I can no longer be recorded in the "visible" wave spectrum. This does, however, pose an unforseen problem when crossing at Brookwood, as I may not be visible to other drivers. I am working on this. Perhaps some kind of loud horn or a leaf blower sound.

News today:
MTC plans a tax for EVERY mile driven: ('considered' means 'will be implemented') http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2012/07/18/Driving-tax-considered-in-California/UPI-84661342636651/?spt=hs&or=on See if this is reported on any local news channel tonight.

Definitely sinister.

Stimulus program.

This is an answer to my prayers. Soccer moms will begin to pay their fair share, and jewelry channel addicts will begin to cover some of the cost of those UPS and FEDEX deliveries. Life is good.

That would only happen after massive violence If they think they can put a tracker on every driver they are truly smoking something very powerful and have no idea what will hit them. Bring it on Liberals. Make my day.
bcrane1 July 20, 2012 at 01:56 pm
of all the ideas that the MTC (or any other gov't agency) has "considered" what percentage have actually been implemented? Maybe we only know about the ones that were successfully enacted and therefore it only seems like "considered" means "will be implemented"

I've been to One Bay Area Meetings and seen the opposition and the 'fake' surveys and schills in the audience - bussed in for the meetings - not from the Bay Area -
CA Resources Board employees who worked for UN's ICLEI - They have a MASTER PLAN. and they can do it with technology and 'global warming' now - it's scary stuff. People should be scared. The VMT was on One Bay Area's Plan a year ago and now the creep has begun even though there is COMPLETE opposition.

On several occasions, I have seen 5-6 chickens pecking their way down their steep driveway on theRead More east side of Saint Mary's Road, very close to the Cattle Chute. I had not read this story earlier. On 6/3 or 6/4, I saw a black hen, alone, out in the road right at the point of the Moraga Commons. It was pecking the pavement on Moraga Road, as cars turning north from Saint Mary's Road were avoiding it. I hope the chicken crossed the road to the trail on the other side. Better yet, I hope it turned around and followed that trail right back to the Cattle Chute and home.
