Rep. Miller At Acalanes High Saturday Morning

Town Hall meeting is in the Acalanes cafeteria from 9 to 10 a.m.

U.S. Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, holds town meetings in Lafayette and El Cerrito Saturday morning.

Miller will be at the cafeteria at Acalanes High, 1200 Pleasant Hill Road, Lafayette, before moving on to El Cerrito.

Miller issued a news release this week applauding the award of a $200,000 federal grant intended to reduce domestic violence in Contra Costa County jurisdictions. The grant from the U.S. Justice Department is for utilizing an assessment tool to recognize women at risk in abusive relationships.

Just received a Robocall from George inviting us to attend. While we won't be able to make it, if anybody is planning to go, could you please ask George:
"What do you plan to do to stop intrusive phone calls from telemarketers and robocallers, given the the National Registry of Do-Not-Call numbers is now completely ineffective?"

We will raise your taxes(assuming you are "rich") to make stimulus dollars available to study the issue.
Its a win/win...we can make the "rich" pay their share, create new government jobs and protect Americans from the nuisance of telemarketers at some undefined point in the future.

On several occasions, I have seen 5-6 chickens pecking their way down their steep driveway on theRead More east side of Saint Mary's Road, very close to the Cattle Chute. I had not read this story earlier. On 6/3 or 6/4, I saw a black hen, alone, out in the road right at the point of the Moraga Commons. It was pecking the pavement on Moraga Road, as cars turning north from Saint Mary's Road were avoiding it. I hope the chicken crossed the road to the trail on the other side. Better yet, I hope it turned around and followed that trail right back to the Cattle Chute and home.
