Orinda Residents Invited to 'Housing Elements' Workshop

The City of Orinda invites members of the community to participate in a Housing Element workshop to learn more about the update process, identify specific needs and opportunities, and share your insights and ideas on how the City can improve housing opportunities in the future.

The City of Orinda is beginning preparation of the 5th cycle of the Housing Element of the General Plan for the 2015-2023 planning period.

The Housing Element is an important component of the City’s General Plan that assesses housing needs in the City and lays out policies for addressing those needs.

The City will prepare an Environmental Impact Report for the Housing Element. This first workshop will serve as an opportunity to learn about the Housing Element as well as the scope of the Environmental Impact Report.

The City welcomes your suggestions and comments!

The Orinda Housing Element is being imposed without a vote of the people. Unelected bureaucrats cannot be permitted to take control of housing plans for Orinda or anywhere else. It's time that the Orinda City Council got the voters' approval for any actions on housing. --Richard Colman, Orinda, California.

I am personally outraged on how the city council is selling downtown Orinda without the vote of Orindan's, I feel as if Orinda has been hijacked by politicians that have the interests of the developers at heart, To me it is sad that many of these people that are running our city have not lived in Orinda for very long and they are backed by corporate interests and developers..

Wait a minute. Wasn't the city just sued for not getting an EIR= Environmental Impact Report for the Senior building. And NOW they're having a meeting?!
