Orinda Meeting for Miner Road Utility Undergrounding Postponed to Aug. 5

News from the City of Orinda:

This past year Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) has been working on a plan to construct the Miner Road Undergrounding Utility project which will convert the existing overhead utilities (electric, telecommunication, and cable) into new underground conduits. The project will require new underground service connections to each affected home and will remove all existing wood poles within the underground district.

This past April, PG&E informed the City that the project costs have significantly increased and could not proceed due to a lack of Rule 20A funding. The City asked PG&E to provide options to revise the project to allow it to proceed within the City's Rule 20A program requirements.

It was originally intended that additional options would be presented by PG&E at the Tuesday July 15th City Council meeting. However PG&E has requested additional time to evaluate different alternatives and re-estimate that the project is within the allowable Rule 20A budget.

Therefore, the PG&E presentation has been postponed to Tuesday August 5th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Auditorium at 26 Orinda Way.
