Moragans Mull Things Over During Coffee With Mayor Mendonca, Town Manager Keimach

You can get a lot done over a latte, and Moraga's Mayor and Town Manager hung out their "Meet the Mayor" shingle to get stuff done Friday at Terzetto's.

Three weeks ago, Moraga Mayor Karen Mendonca began having sit-down meetings at Terzetto's with any citizen who had a question or comment for her about the town, and residents liked the idea.  Now, every third Friday, Mendonca and Town Manager Jill Keimach continue to meet with constituents.

"At the first meeting, we had eight citizens come and sit down," Mendonca said. "We had just five come today, but the difference  was that during the last meeting, most people came by to just say hello or thank me for doing this.  This time people actually had prepared proposals and comments and that was really great."

Among the questions and comments posed at today's meeting were inquiries about large vehicle street parking ordinances and general questions about Moraga, such as population count, which was reported by the mayor as 16,016.

One citizen, Roger Poynts, came to give his thanks for the volunteers who helped clean up the - which happens to be on land Poynts owns.

"I like having these meetings," said Mayor Mendonca. "It gives the townspeople an opportunity to bring up topics important to them without having to sit through a town council meeting. "

Not everyone has time for town meetings and for some it's just not something that is on their list of things to do.  "I'd rather just come and have coffee than go to a town council meeting," said citizen Renee Zeimer.

For those of you who would rather come and talk to the mayor in person like Renee, there will be another get-together at in three weeks. The mayor and Town Manager are ready for your questions.
