Moraga Post Office In Dead Letter File?

After negotiations and a letter writing campaign, it appears the fate of the County Club branch of the Moraga Post Office has been sealed.

Despite appeals by the Moraga Town Council and the many people who depend on it, the Country Club branch of the Moraga Post Office will cease operation Oct. 14, according to a story published Thursday by CCTimes reporter Jonathan Morales.

The branch, outwardly underutilized but a favorite of townspeople who went there when the and were overwhelmed - usually during the Holiday Season - had been shortlisted for closure for some time.

The U.S. Postal Service is closing hundreds of underutlized branches and laying off staff across the country in an effort to compensate for revenue lost as the nation turns to email and other non-traditional methods of written communication.
