Moraga Orinda Fire District Appoints First Woman to its Board

Kathleen Famulener was appointed at last Monday's board meeting to represent Moraga.

Kathleen Famulener, a former trustee of De La Salle High School, will be sworn in August 7 as the first woman board member of the Moraga Orinda Fire District, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Famulener was appointed at the MOFD board meeting on Monday. She will represent Moraga. The former director for Moraga, Frank Sperling, left in May.

"For the history of this district, this has been a good-old-boys board in age and in gender, and we've never had the perspective of a woman on the board," said board director Fred Weil. "I think it would do us good to have a different perspective than the same perspectives we have." Famulener is 62.
