Lafayette Looking For Proposals For Old Library, Doctors Office

Task force will be appointed in November to look at possible tenants for the two vacant buildings

Know a group looking for a place to work out of?

You might want to point them to Lafayette City Manager Steven Falk's office.

Falk is accepting proposals between now and Jan. 1 from organizations that want to use the city's old library as well as the vacant doctors offices across the street at 949 Moraga Road.

He's created a form on the city's website for groups to fill out detailing their organization and/or projects.

The city purchased the former doctors offices in 2010. It has $4 million set aside to buy the old library and renovate it.

The City Council formed a task force last month to study these proposals and other possible uses for the two sites.

Falk said he expects the task force members to be appointed in November. They'll probably convene their first meeting in December, then study proposals from January through March. They're scheduled to bring recommendations to the council in April or May.
