Lafayette Commission Recommends Denial Of Terraces Project

The Design Review Commission sends the 315-apartment development to the Planning Commission with a negative recommendation

The Lafayette Design Review Commission made it official Monday night.

They don't like The Terraces project as it's currently proposed.

The commission voted to send the proposed 315-apartment development to the Planning Commission with a recommendation that the project be rejected.

The plans by O'Brien Land Company call for 315 apartments to be built in 14 buildings at 3233 Deer Hill Road across Pleasant Hill Road from Acalanes High School. Seven of the buildings would be three stories and seven would be two stories.

The development would also have a clubhouse and 569 parking spaces. It would require the removal of 92 trees and the movement of 500,000 cubic yards of dirt.

The vote on Monday evening came almost one month after a hearing in which design review commissioners were critical of the project.

A half-dozen residents spoke again at Monday's hearing, urging the commission to recommend a denial.

The applicant was present but did not make a presentation.
