The council awarded the contract to the lowest bidder Gordon N. Ball Inc., which filed a bid of $1,164,635.

The cost of the project is now listed at $1,497,935. The extra $300,000 is for additional costs to the city such as purchasing street lights.

The funding for the work comes from several sources, including Measure J TLC Grant money, streetlight replacement reserve funds and walkways development fees.
