Lamorinda Democratic Club Hosts District II Supervisorial Candidate Tomi Van De Brooke

The Lamorinda Democratic Club's monthly meeting on a
special night--Friday, March 9--will feature Tomi Van de Brooke, Democrat and candidate for Contra Costa Supervisor, District II.  The Club will also welcome Ro Khanna, former Deputy Assistant Secretary at Commerce to discuss the accomplishments of the Obama Administration and offer a vision for manufacturing and American competitiveness (www.rokhanna.com).

Recently sworn in as President of the Contra Costa
Community College Governing Board, Tomi Van De Brooke was appointed to serve as the Ward II Trustee on the Governing Board in 2005 and was re-elected in 2006,
2008, and 2010. 

Ms. Van de Brooke has worked for Fortune 500 companies, started and ran her own small business, and was the managing partner of a Walnut Creek communications firm. She also worked for the California Alliance for Jobs, an organization dedicated to rebuilding California’s aging infrastructure. She has dedicated much of her time to helping the community, serving on a number of non-profit boards including the Contra Costa Council, Economic Development Alliance for Business, and the Contra Costa Regional Health Foundation.

Ro Khanna is the Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of
Commerce. Mr. Khanna recently returned to Fremont after spending two years working for the Obama Administration in Washington D.C. He served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary at Commerce. In this capacity, Mr. Khanna managed 108 domestic Commerce offices that help companies export and innovate.

While in Washington, Mr. Khanna never forgot about issues
back home in the East Bay. He helped Fremont secure resources after the NUMMI plant closure to build a new manufacturing base. Mr. Khanna worked with local
leaders to support the I-Gate innovation cluster, a partnership between local government and the private sector to incubate high technology companies in
Alameda County.
